If We Were Having Coffee (Or Protein Shakes) Together In May

One of my favorite posts to write each month is the “If we were having coffee” post. There really is nothing better then having coffee with a friend. It happens so rarely these days that I often look to my blogging friends for a good discussion.

I’m taking a “me” day from work to wind down a little bit. Our last few months have been busy and Baby B has been fighting allergies (and the crib) on and off for awhile. Last week I told my (wonderful) husband that I was having a midlife crisis. With a mix of lack of sleep, crazy schedules and allergies that won’t quit he suggested I take a day to myself. Friday seemed like a good day to relax.

Then again, my idea of relaxing is kicking off my day with a 6 mile run… which felt AMAZING. Unfortunately it is pouring rain outside so I was still stuck on the treadmill. 6 miles is 6 miles so I will take it. While you drink your coffee today, I’m going to drink my post run protein shake.

If We Were Having Protein Shakes

If we were having coffee (or protein shakes) together I would tell you…

I have been loving the warmer weather we finally have in the Midwest. This week has felt wonderful to go up to 88 degrees multiple days in a row. We’ve been enjoying trips to the park, evenings playing outside and airing out the house. Unfortunately, it very quickly dropped back off today. Come back fast!

On the flip side, the warmer weather has meant allergy season is officially in full swing. Baby B and I have been hit the worst. Poor little guy just can’t catch a break this season.

Last week we finally made the transition back to the crib. Yes, Baby B is almost 9 months old. We actually started in the crib and around 3 weeks old he gave that up. After 5 weeks of sleeping in a chair with him, an INCREDIBLE friend let us borrow her Rock n Play. Ever since then Baby B has fought the idea of the crib. There was much celebrating last weekend when he finally slept 6 straight hours in a crib!

One of my co-workers has been slowly introducing me to the idea of Essential Oils. A few weeks ago she made a roller for Baby B to help with his allergies and I am officially hooked. My starter kit from Young Living came in the mail yesterday and I have been trying out all different combinations. So far purification is my favorite but we’ve been diffusing a mix of peppermint, tangerine and lemon today for a boost around the house.

While my favorite TV shows are starting to wind down for the season I’m glad I’ll have a chance to really catch up. I’ve been terrible watching TV this year and there are so many episodes I have left to catch up on. The spoilers are out there and I’ve just accepted them!

  1. Oh gosh, allergies are the worst! I am liking the warmer weather though. I’m just ready for the pool to be open. I’ll be spending a lot of time there this summer I’m sure!

I’m so curious about essential oils. I need to do more research and see which ones I think would be most helpful.

  2. I really hope that Baby B can make a smooth transition to the crib soon! I have been loving the warm weather lately, too. Getting outside and airing the house out every day makes such a difference.

  3. best of luck to you! goes to show how different every child is. we’ve had our fair share of troubles when it comes to our son Tuck but he loves to sleep in his own bed! he’s never slept with us, not one… it’s actually a little sad to think of all the cuddles we lost out on.

  4. Gotta love the oils!! I’m a little addicted. (My husband thinks I’m crazy!)

If we were having coffee, I’d probably tell you how I’m drinking a whole lot less coffee these days and I want to give myself a pat-on-the-back every morning! <3
