Friday Favorites – Not April Fools' Style

Happy don’t believe anything you read on social media day! Despite Google’s failure of an April Fool’s joke I’ve been attempting to stay away from most of the potential jokes out there. I’m sure at least one will get me by the end of the day, but for now I’m just going to avoid as much social media as possible. Instead, I have a few other Friday favorites (from the last few weeks) to share.

The ultimate mix of boybands took place for a new movie called Dead 7 and it was possibly one of my best discoveries this week. ‘NSync, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees and O-Town had various hands in the video and it makes for a great afternoon listen…on repeat. Is anyone else as excited about this as I am?

My sister in law published her first book last year and has been sharing on her blog another book that she has written called Mascot Girl. She wrote the final few chapters the other day and I have a few chapters to catch up still but I am excited to see how it ends.

As March Madness is slowly wrapping up, I have to give a huge shout out to Valpo basketball. It’s no secret that we love basketball in our house but watching Valpo this season has just been fun. They’ve broken records left and right, set a new record of wins per season (30) and advanced all the way to the NIT finals. The results last night weren’t quite what we hoped for but this season has been nothing shy of amazing. One of my favorite things to see this week was the number of people around the world tweeting that they were watching the games. The Valpo community really is everywhere.

Something not on my “favorites” list is the fact that Instagram is changing. I’m still getting used to the adjusted Twitter timeline and might have unfollowed at least 150 people in the last few weeks that I didn’t even realize I still followed. Instagram has been my go to social media source that doesn’t make me think. I can scroll through, catch the latest updates and move on. If they really do organize it like the Facebook timeline I might be in trouble.

Speaking of Facebook, my final Friday Favorite is the fact that I unfollowed close to 200 pages on Facebook this week. I guess unfollowing is kind of a theme for the week but my Facebook timeline feels fresh and clean. Over the last few weeks I started to realize that my Facebook timeline was nothing but links to websites and I rarely saw anything my friends posted anymore. After doing a quick look through all of the pages I followed I realized I don’t care about half of them anymore so I went on a cleaning spree. Maybe more on this another day, but for now I suggest you take a look.

Have you ever gone on a mass unfollowing spree? Was it freeing?
What is your favorite thing this week?

  1. Mass unfollowing is good for the soul – in my opinion. I’m about to do the same thing – Spring Cleaning, if you will 😉 I can’t wait for my newsfeed to be about people and things I actually care about – not that I really browse through Facebook as it is 🙂

    1. Yes It is good for the soul! It really is like Spring cleaning, that is a great way to think of it!

  2. I also got sick of not seeing my friends posts, and unfollowed a bunch of pages. I’m not even sure how to do that on Instagram. Ugh.

    1. Instagram is a bit trickier, but I always unfollow as I see something thats annoying me. It made such a difference unfollowing so many pages!

  3. My older sister will love that boy-band mix – I’ll send it her way! My favorite thing about this week was getting to bed on time. I know- not very exciting, but revolutionary to my efficiency. I like to celebrate the small things 😉

    1. HAHA I completely understand! Getting to bed on time would be the top of my list too!
