A SpinnerI’m a spinner…

Last weekend I was home for thanksgiving and Mom and I went to an LYS. I asked them about wheels as I’ve been looking at the DT Lendrums for awhile, but had not had a chance to spin on one… They recommended we check out Little House Spinning and Weaving. I asked mom if it was okay and she said sure… so we hopped in the car and drove about an hour..

The lady who owns this store is so awesome. She had 5 wheels out to try so I sat down and spun at 5 different wheels… I instantly fell in love with the Lady Bug. I wound up buying it and have been spinning like mad since… I am truly in love…

With my spinning I have been bribing myself with Christmas knitting… somehow that worked… mom’s socks are finished:

Hill Country Yarns

Pattern: Tie One On
Yarn: Hill Country Yarns Sweet Feet colorway Orange Peel
Needles: Size 2.5

This was from the Hill Country Yarns package from June. I left off the string that goes around the socks and closes it. I did the picot edging, that was my first time and it worked great! It does kind of role a little bit so I’m not sure if that would happen on most picot edgings or if there is another one that wouldn’t curl as much.

I also finished my Dads mittens… I don’t have a picture of them at the moment but after I finish the hat to match this weekend, I’ll post a picture of them!

In life… well it’s been busy… too much work not enough play… enough said 🙂

Grandpa story of the week:

When my Grandma was still around she used to type Braille for the nuns at a local catholic school. She also used to sew dolls for lots of them and in each one there was a heart that she had made to show though to know that it was made with love. When she passed away one of the nuns wrote to my grandpa and asked if he had any of the extra hearts… He sent her two of them. Last week when my parents got a card in the mail in regards to my Grandpa’s death, it was from some of the nuns who he had sent the hearts to. They mentioned that they were still on her shelf.
