Random Thoughts & Friday Favorites

It is Friday and after a few nights of very little sleep thanks to a whole lot of wind and crazy weather I’m looking forward to sleeping in (until 6:30am) this weekend. Is anyone else having a hard time accepting that Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks and we are 6ish weeks away from 2016? I can’t really wrap my head around that at all right now. Instead getting too far ahead of myself, lets talk about some random thoughts and Friday favorites.

I’m about four years late to the game but I finally downloaded Spotify. Actually, I should clarify that. I downloaded it 4-5 years ago but wasn’t impressed with the options so I went back to my trusty old iTunes. I have been loving all of the random playlists this week and will be content for awhile with music. Am I the only one who was this late to the game?

Some of my co-workers are awesome at finding the most random things on the planet. A group chat brought up 17 Epic Australian Milkshakes and I’ve officially decided I need to go to Australia and try all of them.I mean a milkshake with donuts on top? Yes please!

I’ve been a huge fan of Little Baby Garvin since I was pregnant with Little Man. I won’t lie, I was always caught up in how perfect her life seemed to be and how awesome her daily life was. As her blog has evolved she has become more and more upfront that it’s not always sunshine and roses and I was cracking up at her latest confessions post. Now that I’m passed the “perfect mom” phase I love that she posts stuff like this that other moms can relate to.

Her blog post couldn’t have been better timed. It showed up in my feed the same day I dropped off Little Man in Mickey Christmas PJs with a Spiderman sweatshirt, wrapped in a fleece blanket since he thinks he only needs to wear a winter coat when it is snowing. Some days you have to pick and choose your arguments.

Since I’m all about sharing my random thoughts, let’s talk about the Red Cup debate.

Apparently last week when I said that I wasn’t thrilled about the Red Cups hitting Starbucks so early, I wasn’t the only one who was upset.

Granted, it turns out that many people are upset for an entirely different reason. I didn’t realize it was turning very quickly into a debate about Christianity, Jesus & church. I was just upset that I couldn’t enjoy my first red cup of the season with a peppermint mocha on Black Friday like I normally look forward to. Instead I had my first red cup it the day after Halloween and I guess that really is okay.

At the end of the day, I still like Starbucks and they definitely did not ruin my holiday season by kicking off the red cups early. After seeing post after post on Facebook with friends arguing, a friend posted what I think is probably the most appropriate and timely photo.

Red Cup

This all just begs the question, is there anything people aren’t offended by lately? It is a cup! Did anyone else notice Twitter’s little addition to the debate? A little red cup emoji with the hashtag!

We are just a few short hours away from the weekend. I hope you have a wonderful Friday!

  2. I recently just re downloaded spotify again-I like making running playlists on it! I think the whole Starbucks red cup issue is ridiculous -it’s a stinkin cup! Things I’ve been digging lately are veggie sushi & weightlifting back workouts 🙂

    1. I’m pretty sure people just look for things to be offended by now!

  3. Love the random thoughts! Spotify is a game changer, I’ve been loving making my own playlists. When I’m feeling crazy, David Bowie radio is my favorite 🙂 And red cups – I’m with you! Who cares?!
