So Long 2015

Cheers to 2015

Yet another year is coming to an end. 2015 has been a good one. One thing I can honestly say when the year started is that I didn’t expect to have a blog to look back on. Back in early January I decided to bring back my blog. I had been blogging mainly running and fitness stuff over the last few years but I really had gotten out of the personal blogs. When Rebecca and I decided to start doing writing prompts together, I had no idea what my blog would turn into.

I’m happy I brought it back.

Not only have I loved documenting our year, but I have discovered blogging communities, new blogs to read and have even made a few blogging friends. I had no idea the blogging world had grown to what it is today!

My Favorite Posts of 2015

My Chat With Walt Disney – Looking back I probably would rewrite 90% of this post. Yet, it is the post that got me started writing again so I’m going to have to include it here.

Warrior Dash – This was not only one of my favorite posts, but one of my favorite races of the year. Compared to last year I didn’t do a ton of races but this one was so much fun and came with lots of memories.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters For Non-Stop Holiday Fun – I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I had writing this post. I really can’t. The amount of sweaters I tracked down was crazy and I didn’t even get to share half of the ones I found. Watch out for part 2 next year!

Cadence: Secrets of Wings by RLLib – This post was fun for a lot of reasons. The number one reason was because I am so incredibly proud of Rebecca and everything that she put into this book. I got an early look at the book and was so incredibly excited to share it with the world. If you haven’t stopped over there, I would recommend checking it out.

Summer Memories – Looking back on 2015, I would have to say that this summer was my favorite part. Not only was it a lot of changes for Little Man, but we had a ton of fun as adults as well. We made a lot of memories and I was happy to have been able to document a lot of them here.

That Time I Became a Runner – Remember the time I decided to get super personal? I don’t always get into my deep inner thoughts on the blog but on this particular day I decided to let out all of my feelings about running. They still stand today!

Goals From 2015

I didn’t really set any official goals on the blog at the start of this year (mainly because it wasn’t around) but the ones that I had set in my head I came close to accomplishing.

One thing I have learned over the years (and even more so in recent years) is that you can’t define yourself by whether you hit your goals or not. I’m okay with not hitting them exactly and chances are I’ll be off with goals I set in 2016. They give me something to work towards and I’m pretty happy with that!

Garmin Connect allows you to set monthly or yearly goals. I decided last year to set a goal of 600 miles run for the year. I had hit just under 550 in 2014, so I thought it would be completely doable in 2015. Little did I know that I would essentially take the entire months of January (weather) and July (personal reasons) off. As 2015 came to a close, I realized there was no way I was going to hit it.

In the end I fell just short of 500 miles at 494 miles. That is completely okay with me! I ran a half marathon early in the year, tested my strength with Warrior Dash this summer, continued the popcorn festival tradition and really worked towards becoming a steady runner.

The other goal I set in 2015 was to read 50 books as part of the 2015 Pop Sugar Reading Challenge. I failed at the reading challenge and I’ll admit that openly. When it came to books, I kept going! After getting hooked on the Stephanie Plum series, I wound up changing my Goodreads goal to 85 books for the year. I came in just shy at 83. Not bad for someone who literally did not finish a book in 2014.

So long 2015. It has been a fun ride. We will see you next year.
Have a safe and Happy New Year everyone.
