2017 Goals – Looking Forward To A New Year

I feel like I say the same thing every year… wow did this year go by fast. It’s been a memorable one. From watching Little Man grow up to bringing Baby B into the world, 2016 has been busy. When I look back at my things to accomplish for 2016 I realize just how much has changed. When I wrote out my plan for 2016 I was 4 weeks pregnant and had no idea what the next 366 days had waiting for us. Looking forward to my 2017 goals, I am setting goals knowing that life could change, things could happen but at the end of the day I have some kind of game plan.

Let’s be real. January 1, 2018 I’ll say the same thing… wow that was an unexpected and fast year.

2017 Goals

Blogging Goals

First things first, my 2017 goals for blogging. About two years ago I dove back into blogging and slowly have been rebuilding my blog. Originally I planned on 4-5 posts a week in 2016… it is safe to say that didn’t happen. In all fairness morning sickness kicked my butt, having a 3 year old wore me down and sleeping in happened as often as possible.

On the upside, it gave me a chance to realize where I wanted to go with my blog. Instead of turning out content just to turn out content, I’ve enjoyed taking a step back and really thinking through all of my posts. There are a lot of fun posts (and changes) I have planned for 2017 for the blog. I’m excited to find the time to get them started. From a slight facelift to newly organized categories, 2017 will be the year that the blog finally takes the shape I’ve thought about over the last few years.

Posting wise I would love to stick to 2-3 posts a week. The themes may change, they might differ in length but for now that seems like the perfect amount of content. Most importantly I look forward to interacting more. I’ve really fallen in love with the idea of blogging groups and I hope to really get to dig into them more as the year goes on.

Fitness Goals

No doubt one thing I missed a lot (even more than coffee and wine) while I was pregnant was running. I’ve been working my way back into it over the last few months and I’m already brewing up plans for races in 2017.

A few years ago I ran a 5k a month in the non winter months. For right now my goal is a race a month. January and February tend to be lacking in races around here so I’m going to skip those months and focus on coming up with a race plan for the warmer months.

One race that has been on my mind is getting back into half marathon shape. I hope to get two of them in this year once I figure out my game plan. I really did miss my long weekend runs.

It is time to discover more ways of working out. In 2015 I discovered Beachbody and enjoyed a few of their programs. While I am not opposed to going back to some of them I also want to give a few other types of workout a try. A friend has been trying to get me into Crossfit, so that is on my list of things to try this year. My Sister-in-Law has been a fan of Yoga over the past few years and I asked for some suggestions. Starting today I’m going to try and squeeze in a little bit of the Revolution Bootcamp from Yoga by Adriene over the next 31 days. Who is with me?

Life

My biggest struggle since Baby B has been born has been accepting that I can’t do everything I “need” to do at the exact moment I feel it needs to be done. Did that even make sense? Most of my frustration comes from a lack of planning so my main goal is to try and stay as organized as possible. This year I’m hoping to work on figuring out a better cleaning schedule so I don’t feel the need to constantly clean. Even more so, I need to get back on the meal planning train. Not only does is keep me sane, but it also helps keep our whole house on a better eating schedule.

Most importantly my goal for the year is to involve Little Man more in every day fun around the house. He loves to help cook and bake and I definitely don’t involve him enough in the process. We are going to get back to our weekend waffles, our baking just to bake and vacuuming parties to see who can run into the other vacuum faster. Someday Baby B will be able to join us and I can’t wait.

2016 has been an eventful one. I can’t wait to see what 2017 has waiting for us.
