I am a smoothie addict. For as long as I can remember I have always loved smoothies. Granted, I didn’t use to drink the healthy kind. After I had my little man I went through a year long journey of losing close to 40 pounds and discovered what healthy really was. It turns out, all of those smoothies from Dairy Queen that I loved so much were at the bottom of the healthy list.
After purchasing my Nutribullet, I tried a few recipes from the book but couldn’t get into all of their blasts. A lot of them used random ingredients I didn’t usually keep around the house so I started playing around with things I know I liked.
The last part of our morning routine before all three of us head out the door in the morning is the green smoothie making. I take green smoothies as part of my breakfast, my husband drinks green smoothies for part of his breakfast & the little man loves green smoothies as a snack on the way to daycare. Luckily, little man’s current favorite color is green and he gets even more excited that he has a “green drink” & could care less that it is spinach making his green smoothie green.
We change them up from time to time, but for the most part I stick with the same basic recipe. The only difference is I might throw in peaches, strawberries or blueberries in place of the pineapple. It really depends on what fruit is on sale at the store each week. Banana/pineapple is definitely our favorite though!
