March Blog Report and Lessons I’ve Learned This Month

In February I relaunched my blog as Leggings and Lattes. The first few weeks was simply a “getting organized” period for the blog. This meant March was my chance to really dive in and start building up traffic. I’ve decided to set blogging goals each month and will hopefully be able to share my wins and failures in a blog report at the end of the month. Once a month we’ll switch from a coffee date to talk about the blog for a day. The blogging world had a lot to share in my first full month of Leggings and Lattes so here is my March blog report.

March Blog Report

March Blog Report

Over the last few years I’ve on and off considered growing my blog and making the switch to Leggings and Lattes was my time to kickstart this. For March my main goal was just to start building an audience. When I was blogging over at kristinlongacre.com the audience was small. I didn’t have a plan and would write when I would feel like it. I relaunched my blog as Leggings and Lattes with the goal of making it more than just a place for me to share my thoughts. My hope was to grow a place to share a virtual coffee date with many friends.

So far, we are right on track like I had hoped! I set my main goal of hitting 1,000 pageviews and I made it…BARELY. March was a starting point and I had to remind myself of that a few times this month. From there my only other goal was to grow my social media accounts. In an unexpected way, Pinterest became my biggest focus. This was not at all in my plans when the month started, but I learned a lot and it helped me grow in a way I didn’t realize was even possible.

March’s Popular Blog Posts

The biggest lesson I learned in March is just how big Pinterest is. To be honest, I’ve never been a huge Pinterest believer when it came to blogging. Boy was I missing out! The traffic (while slow) surprised me and I get excited to see my Google analytics reports each week.

I discovered BoardBooster to up my Pinterest game and have been loving the ability to drop pins onto secret boards to be shared out at the best time. Instead of having to worry about the ideal time to pin, BoardBooster takes care of that for me. Thanks to upping my Pinterest game, my top 5 posts in my March blog report were a little surprising.

April Blog Goals

March Blog Report and Lessons I've Learned This Month

April marks 19 years since I started my first blog/website. Yes, 19 years. I was a little 6th grader who picked up a book on how to make a website. It’s crazy to look back at the journey I’ve been on in those 19 years. Blogging/website design has always been my happy place, writing about life, gymnastics, running, etc. behind a computer screen. My website days are long gone but my love for writing it all down remains.

What does this mean for Leggings and Lattes, my newest adventure? I want to double what we did in March.

I have three main goals:

  1. Hit 2,000 pageviews during the month
  2. See the returning visitors go from 15% to 30%
  3. Reach 1,000 Pinterest followers

Not bad right? I know it won’t be quick but I’m looking forward to growing Leggings and Lattes. Thanks for jumping on this crazy ride with us. We’ll see you in April!

  2. First of all, I am so impressed that you have been blogging since you were a sixth grader! That is amazing! What stood out to me with your graph is that it looks like you are attracting a lot of new visitors and that is fantastic. That is one of the hardest parts for me. I see your April goal is to increase the amount of returning visitors and I have no doubt you will do that. All that new traffic is totally going to want to stay and hang out!
