Last year I read 84 books. It was awesome. I visited so many characters lives and spent so much time enjoying reading.
This year I’ve read 9 books. Oops.
I could blame the pregnancy & a newborn, I could blame being exhausted all of the time or I could blame the fact that I’ve gotten hooked on more TV shows than normal. The honest answer is… every time I sit down to read I’m suddenly not excited about the books on my kindle.
A few weeks ago I finally decided I needed to get my butt in gear. I missed hanging out with characters who didn’t exist in real life, the excitement of starting a new book… Truthfully I missed my kindle. I picked up where I left off and have been working my way through #GIRLBOSS. So many of my friends had recommended this book that I needed to read it. I’m loving it and I can’t wait to share all of my thoughts with you.
I’ve gotten back into looking for Amazon daily deals, saving books that I want to read and pre-ordering upcoming books. Here’s a few books on my winter reading list I thought I’d share that I’m pretty excited about.
2016-2017 Winter Reading List – Fiction
Turbo Twenty-Three by Janet Evanovich – I won’t even lie. This is the book that really inspired me to pick up my Kindle again. About a month before it came out I started seeing the teasers and well it finally came out this week. Hi, my name is Kristin and I’m a Stephanie Plum addict. I can’t stop reading the books and I’m so excited that this one is finally here. Chances are once I start this one I’ll be hiding from the world for a few hours until it is done.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling – The big event of the Summer… I pre-ordered Harry Potter and the Cursed Child the day it was available for pre-order…. then I fell off the reading wagon. I’m not going to lie this is one of the top books on my Winter reading list… as soon as I finish Stephanie Plum.
Star Springs Academy Series by Ali Dean – Anyone who stuck with me last Summer knows that along with Stephanie Plum I fell in love with Pepper Jones by Ali Dean. She recently has started to release a new series of books called the Star Springs Academy. I’ve picked up the first one and hope it’s as good as Pepper was!
2016-2017 Winter Reading List – Non-Fiction
I Got This – Gold and Beyond by Laurie Hernandez – Laurie was the gymnast who was far from my radar to make the 2016 gymnastics team, now named the Final Five. Once Rio started I fell in love with her gymnastics and I cannot wait to read her story. Plus, can you go wrong with a book about gymnastics?
UnSweetenind by Jodi Sweetin – I’m a Full House freak and there is no denying that I grew up with the Tanner family. Each member of the cast took different paths in their lives and Jodi Sweetin had an interesting one. Her autobiography is supposed to be wonderful and a huge eye opener to her fans. It has great reviews and I am always up for hanging out with Stephanie Tanner for a few hours.
Yes Please by Amy Poehler – Amy Poehler is awesome and I’ve heard a lot of wonderful thinks about Yes Please and I was super excited to see it as a Kindle Daily deal this past week. I picked it up and have added it to my “must start asap” list.
Bossypants by Tina Fey – I recently fell in love with the idea of audio books. It’s something I’ve tried on and off over the years but with about an hour in the car in the morning it’s a great way to pass some of the time. This was the second book I purchased on Audible and I can’t wait to dig in and listen.
Courage To Soar by Simone Biles – Simone has stolen America’s heart over the last year. This week her autobiography came out and I can’t wait to dig in and read it. There is no doubt she has ruled the gymnastics world for the last 4 years and I truly can’t wait to see what she does next. Again you can’t go wrong with gymnastics.
I guess I need to get busy.
