From one end of the romance novel spectrum after finishing Bluegrass State of Mind to the other with Saltwater Kisses. Krista Lakes took the romance to a new level… I’ll be honest it has been awhile since I’ve had to skip through a few pages like 50 Shades of Grey, but it happened. Saltwater Kisses is a billionaire love story with a nice little storyline running through it. It is the first in a series and if you like the heavy romance, this one is for you!
Saltwater Kisses Synopsis
When small-town girl Emma LaRue won a vacation to an exclusive tropical island, a last minute cancellation meant she would be going by herself. Shy and studious, she never had time to fall in love, and often wondered if she was just meant to be alone. However, that all changed when a handsome stranger literally walked into her life while on the beach and sparks began to fly.
New York’s most eligible billionaire bachelor Jack Saunders thought this vacation would be the perfect escape, one last hurrah, before taking full control of his father’s company. When an innocent Emma didn’t recognize him, he figured that he might get a chance to have a vacation from being rich. He didn’t tell her about the cars, the yacht, or the penthouse. All he did was let her fall in love with him.
Soon, Jack found that he was the one falling in love with Emma. When they enjoy a fantasy marriage ceremony on the beach, they thought it was a bit of harmless fun before returning to their normal lives. A bittersweet goodbye was supposed to be the end of their perfect vacation romance, but when photos of the ceremony were leaked to the press, everything changed.
Feeling lied to and thrust into a world of wealth and privilege, Emma must choose between following her dreams or following her heart. Will she be content at being nothing more than the billionaire’s wife, or will she return to her normal life with only memories of saltwater kisses?
Saltwater Kisses Thoughts
As I hinted to above, I love a good romance novel but I also prefer the novels that keep it a little bit tamer. That is just my personal taste and I know everyone is different. With that being said I actually really did love the storyline going throughout Saltwater Kisses!
While reading Saltwater Kisses I didn’t expect to read a complicated book with lots of twists and turns. That’s not why I pick up books with “A Billionaire Love Story” in the title. I love this kind of book for a quick easy read that doesn’t require any thinking or complicated reading. Krista Lakes provided the perfect easy weekend read.
I loved Emma’s innocent character as the book played out. She got herself in a situation she never had expected and in the end it wound up with her having to think a lot of things through, including whether she really loved Jack. I did feel sorry for her as she learned to explore New York and navigate the billionaire lifestyle. She was forced with having to decide her future in a short period of time because of Jack’s status.
In the end I was happy with the way the book ended. Based on the talks the two of them had Krista Lakes set readers up to know that everything will work out for both of their dreams some day. There are more books to the series including Jack’s side of the story which could offer up a totally different perspective in Kisses from Jack.
