Friday Favorites – How About That Midwest Weather?

This week has been one of those weeks where we are pretending global warming isn’t actually happening. We have been enjoying this beautiful weather that the Midwest has sent our way. After spending Sunday at the park in t-shirts, I can officially say I hope Winter is over. I’m also pretending that there isn’t snow in the forecast this weekend, no matter how bad Little Man wants to build a snowman.

Besides the weather, there are a few other things I’ve run across in the last few weeks, so how about some Friday favorites?

Friday Favorites

I swore I would never join Ipsy, no matter how much my co-workers tried to talk me into it. More on that another day. Thanks to an Ipsy deal for Ouai Finishing Creme, I finally caved. Crazy hair has something I have struggled with for most of my life and the Ouai products came highly recommended. They are absolutely wonderful and I’ve already ordered some extra since my samples ran out. Of course, I’m officially an Ipsy member now.

One thing I’ve learned watching college basketball over the years is that I get way too sad to see seniors graduate. Last year my husband made fun of me for tearing up during the IU senior speeches. This year the senior speeches are getting me again. After watching Valpo’s senior night speeches from the other night it makes me even more sad that we only have a month and a half left before a break from college basketball. Can they have a fifth year please?

Recently, I started spending my lunch hours at a local coffee shop. Drinking coffee and working on the blog a little bit gives me a chance to clear my head. Each day they feature different types of coffee. Yesterday I realized I get more excited than I should when I see cinnamon hazelnut coffee sitting out. You really should try this combination if you have never tried it before.

When it comes to podcasts, I tend to go in phases. For two straight weeks all I will listen to is podcasts and then not again for another month. After playing catchup on my favorite podcasts I decided to look for some new ones. I discovered Georgie’s new podcast Chasing Joy and Jenna Kutcher’s podcast The Goal Digger. Both of these podcasts come highly recommended.

Happy Friday

This weekend we are celebrating Little Man’s 4th birthday. I cannot believe he is turning 4 next week. If you need me this weekend, I’ll be surrounded by Paw Patrol decorations and a lot of cake.

What are your favorite things this week? What type of coffee are you drinking this morning?

  1. One of my favorite things this week is Nutrigrain bars! Just a new pregnancy craving, I think! 😉

  2. Wow! I love this series! I might have to start implementing something similar on my blog. You have to update us on the birthday party, can’t wait to see how you decorated! I love that Ipsy comes in cute makeup bags, it makes them so much more fun to get! I love watching unboxings, but not sure if I want to try it yet.

    1. Ipsy is so much fun! I was iffy on it to start but absoltely love it now! I highly recommend it! I have a review coming soon too. The party was wonderful!

    1. It took me awhile to get into podcasts and I really have to be in the right mood, but I love them! I highly recommend them!

  3. I like the warm weather, but also wish it would just stay cold. I’m totally worried that random week of warmeness is going to ruin the apple crop. Hope your little man had a great birthday!

    1. Ohhh I didn’t think about the fruit that might get damaged in all of this! I wish the weather would stay consistent at least! It’s been such a weird winter!

  4. I’m still drinking the Christmas coffee that I hoarded in December, and my favorite things this weekend are the couch and my new laptop! xoxo Robin

    1. Hahaha! I totally hoard the Christmas coffee too! I get so sad every year when I run out! Enjoy it!

  5. Happy Birthday to your baby! I love coffee however I always stick to my caramel flavor. I guess I need to try another flavor soon.

  6. I’m a phene for flavoured coffees!! I even add cinnamon to my coffees at home just to spice them up a little (no pun intended 😉 )

  7. I need to check out your podcast suggestions. I have been looking for some new ones. Thanks for sharing. My favorite this week is binge watching the Crown:)

    1. Definitely check them both out! I’ve gone back and started listening to older episodes of the Goal Digger. Worth a listen!

  8. It getting summery here, but during night time it gets chilly so my recent favorites are hot ramen and kimchi stew 🙂

    1. Oh that sounds really good! Yes, I love the warm weather during the day but I could do without the freezing at night!

  9. Really curious — why were you so against Ipsy?
I currently don’t have coffee with me (though I’d normally like a good cappuccino) , but a Starbucks Chai Tea Latte is accompanying me while I browse blog posts like yours 🙂

    1. Funny you should ask! I’m writing a post right now explaining! Honestly, I’m not a big makeup person and I thought it would be a waste of money for me to join. Obviously I have changed my mind but I love it now! That chai tea sounds delicious!

  10. I don’t drink coffee, but I treated myself with some chai tea this morning. I needed it. XD The weather is really great over here in Phoenix. It’s the time to get outside here. I love it.

    1. Mmm Chai Tea is always a nice little treat! Phoenix sounds like it has wonderful weather right now!

    1. I Love being able to run across the street to our coffee shop! I highly recommend it if you have the option! Ipsy is wonderful! I have a full review of it coming ASAP!

  11. I love the idea of a Friday Favourites! Such a great way to appreciate and reflect on the week.
