Hitchhiker Part Two

Well I think it’s safe to say that knitting took a backseat in 2013. In fact, it took a major backseat. You might even find a little déjà_vu in this post. My last post was February 3rd and I can officially say I have finished one project (other than two baby hats for the sweetest little man) since then. It was time to knock something out.

Hitchhiker

On February 27th we welcomed my little man into the world. He has been the biggest joy but also a lot of time and energy! (Don’t worry, I love every minute of it… even at 3am!). What used to be knitting time is now little man time…

Back in October one night I had the desire to cast on a hitchhiker scarf again. It was an awesome project I did for a friend last year and I loved how it could be very mindless, yet at the same time was a little bit more interesting than the same vanilla sock I had been knitting since New Years Eve (2012-2013, which for the record is still on the needles).

I had picked up this skein of Three Irish Girls (LOVE THEIR SOCK YARN) at Stitches Midwest 2012 and knew it would be perfect. I honestly have a shirt in every color that would match (of course, I didn’t match it for my photos!)

At first the hitchhiker flew by, eventually as it always does the rows got longer and I got busier with a crawling/half walking little man. Each time we would go visit my mom I would hope that he would be distracted enough to not care that mommy wasn’t giving him undivided attention :).

This last trip to my mom’s house she sent me into the other room and kept saying KNIT!!!! So I finished my scarf!

Quick Details:
Pattern: Hitchhiker by Martina Behm
Points: 38, I probably could have pulled of 39 though.
Yarn: Three Irish Girls Adorn Sock
Colorway: Bryn
Needles: Knitpicks US Size 5
Timeline: 3 Months. Finished December 26, 2013

I love this pattern and could knit it over and over again. For now I’ve cast on a Lintilla and should probably work on that sock again. My New Years Resolution is to darn the 20ish pairs of socks that have holes in them… I should probably go get started on that.

Happy New Year Friends!
